Council regulations through resource consents
People can use many of our natural and physical resources as of right. However, permission is required for some activities - especially where their uncontrolled use could adversely effect other people, the wider environment or future generations.
Many activities, for example, discharging contaminants to water are allowed only if they have been given a consent from the West Coast Regional Council. Our Consents Section can advise you about the need for a consent and how to apply.
