
West Coast Regional Pest Plant Management Strategy
This strategy describes how particular pest plants identified within the West Coast region are to be controlled. It provides a strategic and statutory framework for efficient and effective management of pest plants.

Boundary Control plants
Pest plants which must be destroyed up to a set distance from a neighbouring boundary.

Pest plants which must be destroyed completely be the land occupier.

Pest plants to be destroyed under set conditions in certain areas only.

Progressive Control Areas exist in these locations:
- Maruia Valley
- Haast
- Coast Road
- Karamea - Little Wanganui
- Cape Foulwind
- South and West of the Mikonui River
Surveillance plants
Surveillance Plants are those Council is keeping a watchful eye on as they have potential to become a major problem. They may be declared pest plants in future.
