West Coast Broadband Initiative – Survey

The survey has now closed.

The four West Coast Councils in conjunction with Tai Poutini Polytechnic are working together to submit an application to Central Government’s Rural Broadband Initiative and Mobile Black Spot Funding.

Completing a residents survey is an extremely important requirement of this application as we need to detail the current situation of our households and workplaces, and future needs of our communities and businesses for the whole West Coast.

“Our current services need to be upgraded to an acceptable level for all residents of the West Coast. Having quality broadband services is particularly essential for medical services, education, and allowing our businesses to be on an equal footing with city areas. Broadband is one of the biggest enablers for business to happen and we wish to promote the ultimate of having excellent IT with our wonderful West Coast lifestyle” comments Buller Mayor, Garry Howard.

We are aiming at a level of 100 Megabits per second (Mbps). Comparatively, a good portion of households throughout the Coast are currently receiving a service of less than 5Mbps.

The survey is being printed in The Messenger on 17 June 2015 and can also be completed online.

We would appreciate the completion of the survey by Friday 26 June 2015. Completed surveys can be handed into any of the Council offices on the West Coast. Paper copies can also be posted to you on request, please phone 0800 807 239.
