The Landing water level and rainfall recorder is situated on the Inangahua River, a tributary in the lower Buller River catchment, 10km upstream of where the Inangahua River flows into the Buller River at Inangahua Junction. The site has a catchment area of 1000km2. Summer water levels at this site can get as low as 0.7 metres but normal water levels are closer to 1.0 metres. A high flood water level of 6.7 metres was recorded at this site in May 1988.
This site records a mean annual rainfall of 2460mm and daily falls of up to 170mm.
This site is part of the West Coast Regional Council Flood Warning Network.
