The Lake Brunner water level and rainfall recorder is situated at the township of Moana on Lake Brunner, in the middle Grey catchment, 37km upstream of the township of Greymouth. Flow data is also provided for the Arnold River, acting as the only outlet from the lake. The site has a catchment area of 440km2. Summer water levels at this site can get as low as 1.0 metre but normal water levels are closer to 1.8 metres. A high flood water level of 4.5 metres was recorded at this site in January 1994. Arnold River flows are affected by the Arnold River Power Station located approximately 5km downstream of the lake outlet.
This site records a mean annual rainfall of 2920mm and daily falls of up to 170mm.
