The West Coast Regional Council provides a flood monitoring service for five rivers on the West Coast: The Karamea, Buller, Grey, Hokitika and Waiho Rivers. This service uses a network of rainfall and river level recording stations. These transmit information via radio signal to the Council's computer database.
Information is updated twice daily (6am & 6pm) and more frequently during flood events. The time of recorded data at the monitoring stations is to NZST, (i.e. you need to add one hour to the reported times during summer months).
