The Gorge rainfall recorder is situated on the Cropp River in the upper Hokitika catchment, 52km upstream of the township of Hokitika. The site is located an altitude of 860 metres. This site records a mean annual rainfall of 10,690mm and daily falls of up to 695mm.
This site is a part of the West Coast Regional Council Flood Warning Network.
