We have sites throughout the West Coast region where river levels are being continuously monitored and then relayed via our radio telemetry system to the Greymouth office database.
You can select the site you are interested in from the regional map of river level and rainfall sites.
The data from each site is updated every 12 hours and displayed as a graph of river level in millimetres or cumulative rainfall in millimetres for the last 7 days. The remote locations of these sites and the nature of the radio link means that there may at times be disruptions due to adverse weather conditions or technical malfunctions.
All data times are in NZ Standard Time, (an allowance has not been made for daylight saving time from October to March each year).
All data is provisional as it has not been checked using West Coast Regional Council's Quality Assurance procedures.
For an overview of all the river level sites and rainfall sites use the River Level and Rainfall Summary page.
The site summary shows (in table format):
. all sites by river and location name
. the latest data date and time
. the latest river level reading in millimetres
. the rate of rise or fall of river level in millimetres per hour
. the peak river level and flow
. the rainfall intensity for the last hour in millimetres per hour
. the total rainfall in millimetres for the 24 hours preceding the last data point
Infoline
We also provide an Infoline service which will enable you to use your phone to get the latest river level and rainfall data recorded at each site.
