The report on the 27/28 December 2010 heavy rain event provides information on rainfall, river levels, flood damage and also provides some community comments on the impact of this significant, coast-wide event.

The West Coast has a noticeably milder climate than the east coast regions, with fewer extreme of temperatures.

The West Coast is known for it's mountain scenery, native rainforest and stunning coastline. These features combined with the processes of uplift and erosion - have resulted in a landscape of unique character.

It is Council's aim to preserve this environment for future generations to enjoy.
