The Draft West Coast Regional Land Transport Plan 2015 – 2021 (RLTP) is now available for public consultation. Everyone is welcome to make a submission.
This is the first RLTP developed under the amendments made to the Land Transport Management Act 2003 and will effectively combine elements of the existing Regional Land Transport Strategy and Regional Land Transport Programme into one Plan.
The Draft RLTP provides the strategic context and direction for the West Coast region. It sets out the land transport objectives, policies and measures for the next ten financial years. It also identifies a programme of activities that will be put forward for future funding from the National Land Transport Fund for the next six years. The Draft RLTP also provides a list of indicative transport priorities for 2015 – 2021 identified by the District Councils and the NZ Transport Agency. Your views will help guide the Regional Transport Committee's decision-making prior to the final RLTP being adopted in April 2015.
The Draft Plan details the services that the Councils, NZ Transport Agency and the Department of Conservation are intending to provide, along with how they will be funded.
The Draft Plan is available online and during normal office hours at the West Coast Regional Council Office at 388 Main South Road, Paroa, Greymouth.
And the libraries in Westport, Reefton, Greymouth and Hokitika.

There are different methods for commenting on aspects of individual transport programmes:
- If you wish to obtain details of a specific project you should contact the party responsible for that project. This may be the Council proposing it, or in the case of a State Highway project, the NZ Transport Agency.
- If you wish to make detailed comments on local road maintenance and development activities, and their funding from rates, you should contact the relevant Council or make a submission on their Long Term Plan.
- Activities proposed by the NZ Transport Agency and Department of Conservation are not subject to consultation through any other process. For this reason, submissions on all aspects of State Highway and Department of Conservation activities should be made through this draft RLTP.
Submissions on the Draft RLTP must be received by 5.00pm 23 January 2015. Please post to:
