Let us know your thoughts for the future
Every three years we review our Long Term Plan. This is our chance to step back and look at what is going on in our region and what our challenges and opportunities are.
Over the next 10 years, we still intend to deliver many existing services at the same level of service – with increases in some areas. This presents a challenge for us as we look for new ways to deliver efficient and effective services and functions, and provide infrastructure in a way that is affordable.
Through this consultation, we are asking you, the community, to have your say about where we want to be in 10 years, with a specific focus on the next three, and the choices we need to make to get there, including how we are going to fund that work.
There are some big decisions that will have an impact on what you pay in rates:
- Implementing a Uniform General Charge
- Enhancing our Civil Defence and Emergency Management service
- Creating a Whole of Waiho Rating District
We are also proposing some changes to other areas of our work, including:
- How we manage our quarries
- Working with our communities to manage coastal erosion
We are also considering where to for the future. We would like your feedback on a future expansion to the Biodiversity / Biosecurity special rate across the region to community groups undertaking this type of work and ensure that the West Coast is positioned to access support from central government and Predator Free 2050.
