The West Coast Regional Land Transport Plan 2015 - 21

Interim review on the West Coast Regional Land Transport Plan 2015 - 21

The Interim Review on the West Coast Regional Land Transport Plan 2015 – 21 (RLTP) was adopted by the Regional Council on 12 June 2018 and is now publicly available. It is not a complete review of the RLTP, rather it updates and enhances various sections of the document to ensure alignment with the Region’s vision for land transport as well as key legislative documents such as the Government Policy Statement on land Transport (GPS).

The RLTP provides the strategic context and direction for transport on the West Coast, setting out the land transport objectives, policies and measures. The RTP includes all transport activities recommended for funding in the region over the next three years from 2018/19 – 2021/22. An updated programme of activities has also been incorporated. This programme supports the two strategic priorities of the GPS being safety and access which are underpinned by the principles of value for money and environment.

It is important to note that the RLTP is a proposal for funding support, not a funding commitment. Delivery of the RLTP depends on the participating agencies acquiring the necessary funds.

A second stage GPS has been signalled in order to fully realise the new Government’s direction for transport investment. This may result in a review process being undertaken before the RLTP reaches its legislated review process in 2021.
