Regional Coastal Plan Review
Council is currently reviewing the Regional Coastal Plan for the West Coast.
A Proposed Regional Coastal Plan (RCP) for the West Coast has been publicly notified and 26 initial and 28 further submissions were received. Submissions are currently being evaluated. Council will be meeting with various submitters to discuss submission points raised and the Council’s initial recommendations prior to a hearing being held. Any hearing on the Proposed RCP is on hold pending the resolution of appeal points on Chapter 9 of the Proposed Regional Policy Statement.
As part of the Coastal Plan review, outstanding coastal landscapes and natural character areas have been identified. These areas are listed in Schedules 3D and 3E of the Proposed RCP, which includes a summary of their attributes. Photos and further details of these areas can be found in the two background technical reports prepared to accompany the Proposed RCP. Summary of Decisions Requested
Staff prepared a Summary of the Decisions Requested on the Proposed Regional Coastal Plan and publicly advertised this for further submissions on 11 July 2016.
A total of 24 further submissions were received.

Once the Regional Policy Statement appeals have been resolved the Coastal Plan Review will be progressed.
