Our region is susceptible to a range of natural hazards with flooding a high risk hazard requiring significant work by our Catchment Management team to reduce risk and impact on Coast communities. Flood protection and land drainage are fundamental in keeping communities safe in our region, reducing the impact from flooding and erosion.
With many rural and urban areas located on flood plains, it is important to have an appropriate standard of flood risk mitigation for the safety of the community. The protection of flood plains is also important for protecting productive land.
Council works with communities throughout the region to manage natural hazards such as flooding and erosion.
