Invasive animals and plants harm our natural environment, affect our economy and reduce local biodiversity. We're working hard to make managing pests easier to help protect livelihoods and biodiversity across the region.
Effective biosecurity measures can prevent the introduction and reduce the spread of invasive species, pests, and diseases that could devastate native flora and fauna and harm agricultural productivity.

Our partners
Ministry of Primary Industries – the leading organisation in NZ for managing harmful pests and diseases entering the country, and the control of those already here.
Department of Conservation – manages around 30% of New Zealand’s land area. It is responsible for protecting these areas and ecosystems present, including pest and disease management.
New Zealand Biosecurity Institute – works to raise awareness and engagement about biosecurity issues.
Kotahitanga mō te Taiao Alliance – a unique collaborative model of iwi, councils and government based in the top of the South Island
OSPRI – a partnership between primary industries and government. It manages two national programmes, NAIT and TBfree.
Predator Free 2050 Limited – a Crown-owned, charitable company established to help deliver the government’s ambitious goal of eradicating possums, stoats and rats by 2050.
Conservation Volunteers NZ – a not-for-profit organisation bringing people together to improve environments and communities.
Development West Coast – the regional economic development agency for the West Coast region.
Tai Poutini Polytechic – the local tertiary education provider, offering popular study options that meet the needs of the West Coast.
Enviroschools – an environmental action-based programme in which young people are empowered to design and lead sustainability projects in their schools, neighbourhoods and country.
